"Pilot" is the first episode in the first season of the NBC crime drama Found. It aired on October 3, in 2023.
Synopsis[]
Crisis management specialist Gabi Mosely and her team find missing persons the authorities are unable or unwilling to locate; the search for Camilla, a missing 14-year-old in foster care, becomes more complicated than the team initially suspected.
Plot[]
The episode opens with Gabi Mosely giving a press conference about a recent case, establishing her as a dedicated advocate for missing persons. The scene transitions to Gabi meeting with her team, each member possessing unique skills that aid in locating missing individuals: Zeke Wallace, the reclusive tech genius; Margaret Reed, an investigator with an eye for details; Dhan Rana, the team’s muscle and field support; and Lacey Quinn, another kidnapping survivor who shares a sister-like bond with Gabi.
The team is quickly pulled into a high-stakes case involving a young woman who has gone missing under suspicious circumstances. Gabi’s leadership shines as she coordinates her team, combining Zeke’s cyber tracking, Margaret’s investigative instincts, and Dhan’s physical reconnaissance. Throughout the case, Gabi pushes her team hard, revealing her relentless nature and deep empathy for the missing.
Amid the investigation, viewers get a glimpse of Gabi’s darkest secret: her captor, Sir, whom she has hidden away in her basement. She visits him for insight, knowing that his twisted mind may hold answers that traditional investigative methods can’t provide. Their interaction is tense and unsettling, as Sir taunts Gabi with their shared past. It becomes clear that while she despises him, Gabi feels compelled to keep him close, believing his insights can save others.
After a series of twists and dead ends, the team ultimately locates the missing girl, reuniting her with her family. Gabi’s victory is bittersweet, as we see her struggle to find closure from her own trauma. In a final scene, Gabi visits Sir, who chillingly reminds her that their connection is far from over.
